Our Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
At RE(YOU)S, impact isn’t measured by checkboxes—it’s built into how we live, share, and connect. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) offer a shared vision for a better world, and we recognise how our work already contributes to many of them, just by doing what we do.
We don’t follow a checklist—we follow the needs of our community. However, the alignment is present, both naturally and intentionally.
Why the SDGs Matter to Us
The SDGs offer a shared vision of equity, sustainability, and dignity for all.
For us, they reflect what we already believe: that community wellbeing and environmental care are deeply linked, and that everyday choices—when made together—can shape systems that work better for everyone.
Sustainability flows through everything we do—from how we share resources, to how we connect, create, and care for each other.
We work with what already exists, making everyday choices that support each other and the future.
It’s part of how we live, how we build, and how we look after what matters.
The Goals We Align With
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Our EX(CHANGE) events and resource-sharing platforms support stronger local networks.By keeping resources flowing between individuals, families, and businesses, we create spaces where access is shared and community connection grows.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Through our token system, repair workshops, and focus on reuse, we support people to make the most of what’s already in circulation—encouraging choices that are creative, practical, and rooted in care.
Goal 1: No Poverty
The EM(POWER) membership offers supported access for individuals and families navigating limited choices—creating practical pathways to essential resources, with dignity and flexibility at the core.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Through the RE(SOURCE) Hub, businesses and organisations connect in ways that support people, purpose, and the wider community.
These partnerships help keep resources moving, skills shared, and impact rooted in local connection.
Goal 4: Quality Education
Our workshops and RE(FIX) sessions offer hands-on, creative learning that builds confidence, curiosity, and practical life skills—accessible to all ages and stages.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
RE(YOU)S creates access across different life stages, backgrounds, and income levels—welcoming participation in whatever way feels right.
Our token system recognises all forms of participation—whatever that looks like for each person.
It keeps value flowing across the system in ways that are flexible, shared, and rooted in dignity.
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
We support local businesses to engage with community in meaningful ways, and reduce financial strain for individuals through systems that prioritise shared access over ownership.
Volunteering at RE(YOU)S also creates space for learning, confidence-building, and contribution—offering flexible roles that are rooted in purpose, not pressure.
Whether someone’s exploring new skills, reconnecting with community, or simply taking part, their time and presence are valued.
What We’re Doing Now (and Next)
Our commitment is ongoing.
Every membership, every workshop, every exchange is a step in a shared direction—toward systems that are circular, creative, and community-led.
This work is shaped by everyone who takes part:
-
Volunteers offer their time, energy, and creativity
-
Community members bring lived experience and ideas that guide us
-
Businesses contribute resources, build relationships, and grow impact with others
We’re always listening, learning, and adapting with the people around us.
The work continues—built with the people around us, and shaped by what matters to them.
Want to be part of it?
Whether you join, contribute, refer, or follow along—there’s space for you in this.
Because when we build together, it becomes something we can all return to.
